Jackpot:
Part 3 of my travels across the US in the summer of 2021 features photos exclusively of Las Vegas. This side trip between LA and San Francisco was a spur of the moment decision, motivated for the most part by finding $10 bus tickets. It was my first time in Las Vegas and I was all business (including the night I got very very drunk, a calculated artistic experiment). I kept a twenty in pocket in case I got the urge to gamble, but I was entirely focused on taking pictures and the money sat in my pocket the whole time. I was recording the spectacle but I didn't really care to be part of it.
The action was concentrated on fremont st and the strip from dusk to dawn. It was almost overwhelming and the environment was too hostile to be out during the day in any other part of vegas. So this story is mostly about the excess and vice. but also the sublime beauty of the human experience in all its strange and decadent forms.  You can read the full book online below, if you enjoy it please consider buying a physical copy.
